Ward 6 DFLers Endorse Bostrom Reelection

Eastside DFLers gathered Thursday evening to endorse the reelection of Saint Paul City Councilmember Dan Bostrom. The delegates, elected at the precinct caucuses in February, gathered at Phalen Park Pavilion for a bar-b-que and the Ward 6 convention.

Former Saint Paul Planning Commission chair George Johnson placed Councilmember Bostrom’s name into nomination.  Three Ward 6 residents and Eastside leaders seconded the nomination. Chao Lee, aide to U.S. Congresswoman Betty McCollum said Bostrom was very helpful and effective when Lee worked with the councilmember on federal matters affecting Ward 6 residents and on community concerns.  Robin Madsen, president of a city employee’s union, said Bostrom always keeps his word and is a friend to working men and women.  State Senator and former Saint Paul Police Chief John Harrington said Bostrom was an innovator in juvenile justice and other areas when the councilmember was a Saint Paul police officer.

Saint Paul City Council President Kathy Lantry also spoke and urged support for her city council colleague. She said Bostrom is a determined and successful advocate for the Eastside.

Also attending the convention were State Representative Tim Mahoney, Conservation District Supervisors Janelle Anderson and Mara Humphrey, Maplewood City Councilmember Marv Koppen, Ramsey County Sheriff Matt Bostrom, Metropolitan Council Member Rich Kramer and former Saint Paul City Councilmember Gladys Morton.

The convention delegates also honored Eastside neighbor Marj Ebensteiner, who recently retired after serving 34 years at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.  Ebensteiner received a plaque from the City of Saint Paul honoring not just her service to the state, but also her work as an elected Ramsey Conservation District supervisor and longtime member of the City’s Sales Tax and Revitalization (STAR) Board, which allocates tax proceeds to neighborhood projects.
